Terms of Use

• You must be at least 16 years old.
• You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done through your account.
• Give accurate information when you register, and do not share your account with anyone else.
• You must confirm your email address before your first sign-in. Repeated failed sign-in attempts temporarily lock the account.
• One person, one account. Nicknames must be unique, and you may not pick a name designed to impersonate another member or a deleted account.

• You keep ownership of everything you create - memories, photos, comments, listings and messages.
• You give us permission to store, display, adapt and distribute that content in order to run the site. Concretely, that means: adding our watermark to your photos, converting them to WebP, serving them from our public image address, showing your public content in search engines and in link previews on other sites, and letting you and others share it to social networks.
• That permission covers running Retro Decennium and nothing else. We do not licence your content to anyone for their own purposes, and it ends for future use when you delete the content.
• Content should relate to retro culture - broadly the 1970s through the 2000s.
• Do not post anything illegal, infringing, abusive, hateful, sexual, or deliberately misleading. Links are not allowed in comments.
• You can edit or delete your own content. Two limits worth knowing: photos cannot be swapped out after a memory is published, and a memory that has been rejected in review cannot be edited or resubmitted.

• Images only - JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, up to 10 MB each. No video or audio uploads.
• Up to 5 photos per memory and up to 8 per listing.
• Every photo is screened automatically before publication, watermarked, and converted to WebP. We keep only the converted version.
• Published photos live at a public web address that is unlisted but not password-protected. Anyone holding the exact link can open the file, so do not upload anything you would not want shared that way.
• Upload only photos you took or have the right to use.

• Retro Market is a noticeboard. We host listings and messages; we are not a party to any deal, not an agent for either side, and not a broker.
• No money passes through this site. We do not process payments, hold funds, escrow anything, or arrange shipping. Everything about price, payment, handover and delivery is agreed and carried out directly between the two of you, off this platform.
• Marking a deal complete is a shared bookkeeping step, nothing more. It records that both of you pressed a button. It is not proof that payment was made, that an item was sent, or that anyone was satisfied.
• Because we are not part of the transaction, we cannot refund you, reverse anything, recover an item, or arbitrate a dispute. If a deal goes wrong, that is between you and the other member - and if a crime has been committed, with the police.
• The 'Seller Verified' badge is calculated automatically from a few account facts. It is a weak signal, not a guarantee or an endorsement, it can be briefly out of date, and it says nothing about whether a particular deal will go well.
• You must comply with the law where you live regarding what you sell and any tax you owe.
• Never send payment card details, passwords or verification codes through messages. Nobody from Retro Decennium will ever ask for them.

Listings are reviewed by people, not filtered by software, so this list is what we enforce against. Anything on it will be removed and may cost you your account.

• Weapons, ammunition, explosives, and realistic replicas of them.
• Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vapes, and medicines or supplements of any kind.
• Counterfeit goods, pirated media, and copies passed off as originals.
• Live animals, and anything made from protected species.
• Stolen goods, and anything you cannot lawfully sell.
• Adult material, and anything sexual in nature.
• Personal data, account credentials, keys, licences and subscriptions.
• Financial instruments, gift cards, vouchers, currency and cryptocurrency.
• Hazardous materials, and electronics modified in ways that make them unsafe.
• Items promoting hatred or violence, or associated with hate movements.
• Services, job offers, advertising, and anything that is not a physical retro item.

• No spam, harassment, abuse, or offensive content.
• No links in comments.
• Keep content on-topic - retro and nostalgia.
• Do not attempt to work around rate limits, moderation, or account restrictions.
• Treat other members decently, especially when a deal does not go the way you hoped.

• Photos are screened automatically at upload. If the check does not pass an image, your memory or listing waits for manual review instead of publishing. This can occasionally delay publication through no fault of yours.
• We may reject a memory or a listing. Rejection is final - a rejected memory cannot be edited or resubmitted, and you would need to create a new one.
• We may remove content, lock an account indefinitely, remove an account's verified status so it can no longer sign in, or delete an account entirely, where these terms are broken.
• We try to be proportionate and to act on serious things first, but we do not guarantee that we will review everything, or review it quickly.
• If you think a decision about your content or account was wrong, contact us and we will look again.

• Retro Market listings can be reported directly from the listing, with a reason: prohibited item, suspected scam, inappropriate content, harassment, spam, or other.
• Being clear about the current limits: the in-app report button covers listings. To report a memory, a comment, a message or a member, please use the contact form - it reaches the same people.
• To report content that infringes your copyright or trade mark, contact us with a link to the content, a description of the work, and confirmation that you hold the rights. We remove infringing content when a report checks out, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.

• The site brings in content from YouTube, the Internet Archive, iTunes, Pexels, TheAudioDB, Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and OpenStreetMap.
• The Retro Catalogue is reference material gathered from those sources rather than written by us. Its facts come from Wikidata, which waives attribution under CC0; where an entry carries article text, that text is Wikipedia's under CC BY-SA and is credited on the entry itself; and its photographs come from Wikimedia Commons, each one linking back to its own page, where the photographer and the licence are recorded.
• Some of it - the Arcade emulator, video embeds, the audio in the Music Room and in the dashboard stereo, and the catalogue photographs - runs or loads directly in your browser from those companies' own servers, under their terms.
• We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, availability or legality.

• Supporting the project is entirely voluntary and gets you nothing in return - no features, no badge, no priority. The site works identically either way.
• Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own site, under Stripe's terms. We never see your card details.
• Donations are gifts, not purchases, and are not refundable.

• What we collect and what happens to it is set out in our Privacy Policy, which is worth reading alongside these terms.
• Deleting your account erases your memories, photos, comments, likes, favourites and notifications, and scrubs your personal details. Some records deliberately survive - messages you sent stay in the other person's Retro Market conversation, along with offers, completed-deal records and any abuse reports involving you. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what and why.
• Passwords are hashed, sign-up is protected by reCAPTCHA, and repeated failed sign-ins lock an account temporarily.

• Do not scrape the site, harvest member data, or use bots or automated tools against it.
• Do not try to defeat the rate limits, the captchas, or any other protection.
• Selling your own retro items in Retro Market is exactly what the marketplace is for and is not restricted by this section. Using the site as a data source, or reselling access to it, is.

• The site is provided “as is”, without warranties. It is a hobby project and may be unavailable, lose data, or change without notice.
• We are not responsible for content posted by members, for third-party content, or for anything that happens in a deal arranged between members.
• Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
• Otherwise, our liability to you is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

• You can delete your account at any time in Settings, under Danger Zone.
• We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we have to for legal or safety reasons.
• Sections that by their nature should outlive an account - the content permission for material already shared, the disclaimers, and the liability limits - continue to apply.

• We may update these terms as the site develops. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will flag significant changes.
